Substantially preserved Tegean limestone copy from the sanctuary of Athena Alea; some lines heavily restored. The oath at the end is intact enough for the diagramma cross-reference (Alexander's edict, here called δίαγραμμα) to be securely read. RO 2003 commentary (verbatim OCR)RO 2003 评注（逐字 OCR）Although almost every letter has been read except at the beginning and the end, the dialect and the lack of specific references make translation and interpretation difficult. The document, found at Delphi (where this copy was presumably deposited to strengthen the guarantee that it would be enforced) is concerned with Tegea (l. 50–1), and stipulates that if one kind of problem arises neighbouring Mantinea is to serve as a lawcourt (ll. 31–5): that itself is remarkable, since when last heard of, at the end of the 360s, Tegea and Mantinea were on opposite sides in a divided Arcadia (cf. on 41); for building regulations at Tegea see 60. [King Alex]ander has been restored as the source of the diagramma (ll. 1–2: equivalent to diagraphe in ll. 83, 85). No other text mentions that Tegea was affected by his order of 324 for the return of exiles (cf. on 83), but that it should have been is likely enough: on Tegea in Alexander's reign we have only the remark that, with the exception of the ringleaders, the city was pardoned for joining in Agis' rising of 331–330 (for which see on 4: Curt. vi. i. 20): those ringleaders may well have become a body of exiles who would benefit from Alexander's order. Per RO 2003's commentary at p. 530 (OCR'd verbatim above): in summer 324 BCE Alexander the Great issued a diagramma ("edict") at Olympia, proclaimed by Nikanor of Stageira, ordering the restoration of exiles to their home poleis. The Tegean ordinance is the longest text in RO 2003 and the only polis-level compliance ordinance to survive in extended form. The document was found at Delphi (per RO 2003) — RO speculates a Delphic copy was deposited as enforcement-guarantee. Paraphrase, not direct quotation:转述，非直引： for the dossier this case documents a concrete instance of how the Classical polis-decree machinery (enactment formula, compliance directive, civic oath) absorbed a new procedural slot — the response-to-royal-edict — without otherwise reshaping its formal vehicle. The diagramma-citation becomes a recurring feature of Hellenistic polis decrees thereafter; the Tegean ordinance is one of its earliest surviving instantiations. Both alternative dates (324/3 BCE per the standard view, 317 BCE per Heisserer per RO 2003) place this case at the formal pivot point.
