Fragment Editions — Ancient Ecology

27 critical editions of geographical & ecological fragments — Hecataeus of Miletus, Eratosthenes, Agatharchides of Cnidus, and Hellanicus of Lesbos. Each is a Brill’s New Jacoby / Jacoby (FGrH)-based text carrying a codepoint-level open-corpus apparatus — the recorded differences between the BNJ base and the corresponding open digital witness (Athenaeus, Strabo, Diodorus, Cleomedes, Agathemerus, ps.-Demetrius, the Homer scholia, Gellius, &c.). Collation was source-grounded against the Perseus corpora and adversarially reviewed (2026-06-26). “In-span” marks an edition whose witness covers the checked core but not the full quotation.

The witnesses that quote these fragments are readable whole, Greek beside English, in the Impression Litus full-text readers — among them Strabo, Arrian and Herodotus.
